Based on the number of likes and the nature of the comments, 138 photos will be selected to be featured in our new 56 private rooms and hallways in the North Tower.     Genetic counselors are healthcare providers with specialized training in genetics and genetic conditions. They are trained to provide risk assessment and education to people with many types of conditions or family histories of genetic conditions. Based on the risk assessment, a genetic counselor will help you understand your options for avoiding or managing the diseases for which you are at risk.   • HEARTCHASE HARDIN COUNTY - EVENT POSTPONED

    We are sorry that we need to postpone the Hardin County HeartChase event scheduled for August 16, 2014. We understand many volunteers, participants and sponsors are looking forward to the HeartChase. Many people have been working very hard to put this event together and we apologize for any inconvenience caused by the decision.

    Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, we feel we do not have the adequate resources to ensure HeartChase could live up to its potential at this time. We will be in touch with all participants, sponsors and volunteers with next steps.

    The American Heart Association and Hardin Memorial Hospital will continue to work together to raise awareness about the impact of heart disease and stroke, and will continue to provide resources to help you and your loved ones live healthier lives. Our leadership is looking for an appropriate time to move forward with the event. We are dedicated to ensuring that we provide the resources and logistical support to match the tremendous hard work and dedication of our volunteers, participants and sponsors.

  • HMH'S NORTH TOWER EXPANSION PROJECT ON TIME AND ON BUDGET

    Hardin Memorial Hospital’s North Tower vertical expansion project continues to dominate the landscape at 913 North Dixie Avenue and is still on schedule for its projected completion of Spring 2015. Begun in mid-September 2013, a flurry of activity continues around the northern part of the hospital campus as construction crews work feverishly to keep the project on time and on budget. At this date, the building’s exterior is coming to life and metal panels will wrap around all sides of the third and fourth floors within the next one to two months...

    Dr. Braden is a native of Florence, Kentucky and received her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine Degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Dr. Braden completed her Residency in Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals and her Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin.

  • HMH FOUNDATION RECEIVES GIFT FOR NEW REHABILITATION EQUIPMENT

    The Hardin Memorial Hospital (HMH) Foundation announced on June 17, 2014 the purchase of new state of the art vibration technology rehabilitation equipment called the VibeTech One™ rehabilitation chair. The purchase was made possible thanks to a generous donation from Robert Robbins, M.D.
    Vibration technology is used to improve muscle tone and strength in patients who are unable to tolerate weight bearing physical activity. Astronauts first used the technology to overcome muscle atrophy due to zero gravity during spaceflight. This technology is available either both by a Physicians Order and as deemed Medically Necessary by a Physical Therapist or as a cash base service of $35 per treatment.     Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Ky., is the latest medical center to join the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center Affiliate Network (MCCAN). The affiliation means more cancer patients across Kentucky will be able to receive the advanced specialty and subspecialty care of the UK Markey Cancer Center, recently named the 68th National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in the country, and the only one in Kentucky. Other benefits include access to clinical trials and advanced technology while allowing patients to stay closer to home for most treatment.

    Hardin Memorial Health has entered into an agreement with Hardin County Schools that will give students enrolled in the Hardin County Schools Early College and Career Center an opportunity to work clinical hours and serve in an internship work environment during their high school senior year. Hardin County Schools Early College and Career Center students will work with the nursing, pharmacy, sports medicine, EKG, phlebotomy, culinary and information technology areas of the hospital.

  • SCREENING FOR LUNG CANCER

    Dr Adam Lye, Oncologist and Dr. Stuart Couch, Radiologist discuss the benefits and risks of a Lung Screening CT. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force has issued a final recommendation statement on Screening for Lung Cancer. Adults between 55 and 80 years old who are at high risk for lung cancer because they are current heavy smokers or have quit within the past 15 years should be screened every year with a test called low-dose computed tomography (CT).   • CANCER CARE CENTER IS MOVING TO ROBINBROOKE BLVD

    The board approved a capital substitution of $475,000 to fund the relocation of the Cancer Care Center specifically medical oncology to RobinBrooke Blvd. The new center should be open in the spring around April 2014. Plans for the space are still being finalized, while input from the Cancer Care Center's focus group continues guide the final plans.

  • HMH CELEBRATED A SIGNIFICANT CONSTRUCTION MILESTONE

    A “Topping Out” Ceremony was held on December 23, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. to mark the securing of the uppermost beam atop the North Tower at Hardin Memorial Hospital. Immediately following the ceremony guests enjoyed a Hot Chocolate Bar inside the Outpatient Surgery & Endoscopy Center lobby.



  • NORTH TOWER PHOTO CONTEST UPDATE

    Our entry period has come to an end. During the month of November we received more than 30 disks and countless email entries. We are still reviewing the large number of photos entered. We will be posting Nov's photos in batches in January.  Our tentative timeline is to post finalist in February to Facebook and open the entries up to comments and make final selections in March.

    Thank you again to all those who have submitted photos. They have been outstanding and a true representation of the depth of talent this community has!

    Hardin Memorial Health walked away with four awards from the Kentucky Society for Healthcare Public Relations and Marketing (KSHPRM) annual Thoroughbred Awards on November 12, 2013. This year’s award ceremony was held in conjunction with the KSHRPRM fall conference at the Muhammad Ali Center. The Thoroughbred Awards recognizes excellent work throughout the Commonwealth in the areas of healthcare marketing and public relations.

    We’re excited to have work underway on the North Tower. In early October, we began installing protection on the existing roof to ensure it is not damaged during construction. PFA is a non-profit organization that implements innovative Fitness in Education in schools grades 1-8. Hardin Memorial Hospital Foundation raised over $8,000 with the 2012 HMH Run for Fun and plans to raise the remaining $10,000 needed to pilot this program in one school with the 2013 HMH Run for Fun and Etown Dolphins Sprint Triathlon. PFA conducted a call for proposal with all public schools in Hardin, Larue and Meade Counties. The school that was selected by PFA for program award is Lakewood Elementary School in Cecilia, KY.

      In response to all the flu activity in our area we are offering a flu clinic on the Wellness on Wheels Mobile Health Unit, next Thursday on January 17th from 7:30 am – 12:30 pm in the Elizabethtown Walmart parking lot. We will have 300 Adult (18 years and older) doses of the flu vaccines that will be giving on a first come first serve basis. The cost is $21.00 (cash/check) per shot and not billable to insurance with the exception of Medicare Part B (Must have the Medicare Part B Card).

    On Friday, December 14, 2012 a terrible tragedy occurred in Newtown, Connecticut when 20 children and six adults lost their lives in a senseless act of violence at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

    As a symbol of compassion for those individuals who lost their lives and for those they leave behind, Hardin Memorial Health will turn off all Christmas lights for one night on Wednesday, December 19.

    Dr. Wilson graduated from West Virginia University School of Medicine and completed his Otolaryngology (ENT) residency at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center. Prior to coming to Elizabethtown, Dr. Wilson was in private practice in North Carolina. Dr. Wilson is a certified member with the American Board of Otolaryngology.

Most recently, Dr. Cole has completed military service with the United States Army as a Staff Neurosurgeon with Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

  • LOCAL RESIDENTS CALLED TO CONTRIBUTE TO HISTORIC CANCER RESEARCH EFFORT

    Men and women between the ages of 30 - 65 who have never been diagnosed with cancer are needed to participate in the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3). CPS-3 will enroll a diverse population of up to half a million people across the US. The opportunity for local residents to enroll in CPS-3 is being made possible in partnership with HMH on April 4-5, 2012. All participants will need to enroll in this study prior to April 3, enroll now!

    Hardin Memorial Hospital offers Vascular Screenings for Screenings are private, individualized and personal. Our highly trained vascular technologists and physicians perform the vascular exams using ultrasound. Each test takes approximately 10-15 minutes. The complete package of three tests takes less than an hour.

    Vascular screenings are ultrasound tests used to look for disease in persons at risk before symptoms are experienced.
