HMH RECEIVES AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION’S GET WITH THE GUIDELINES-RESUSCITATION SILVER QUALITY ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

Hardin Memorial Hospital has received the Get With The Guidelines®–Resuscitation Silver Quality Achievement Award from the American Heart Association. The recognition signifies that Hardin Memorial Hospital has reached an aggressive goal in using guidelines-based care to improve patient outcomes from in-hospital cardiac arrest. Hardin Memorial Hospital received Get With The Guidelines Silver Performance Award for reaching an aggressive goal of treating heart failure patients with 85% or higher compliance to core standard levels of care as outlined by the American Heart Association for 12 consecutive months.

On Friday, April 26th 2013, SpringHaven, Inc. Domestic Violence Shelter welcomed approximately 120 volunteers from Hardin Memorial Health’s (HMH) Leadership Development Institute. The management staff of HMH donated $6000 to fund the day’s projects. The day of service, coordinated by United Way of Central Kentucky, will include volunteer teams tackling building improvements and landscaping.

HMH'S WOW MOBILE HEALTH UNIT TO HOLD FLU CLINIC

  In response to all the flu activity in our area we are offering a flu clinic on the Wellness on Wheels Mobile Health Unit, next Thursday on January 17th from 7:30 am – 12:30 pm in the Elizabethtown Walmart parking lot. We will have 300 Adult (18 years and older) doses of the flu vaccines that will be giving on a first come first serve basis. The cost is $21.00 (cash/check) per shot and not billable to insurance with the exception of Medicare Part B (Must have the Medicare Part B Card).

On Friday, December 14, 2012 a terrible tragedy occurred in Newtown, Connecticut when 20 children and six adults lost their lives in a senseless act of violence at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

As a symbol of compassion for those individuals who lost their lives and for those they leave behind, Hardin Memorial Health will turn off all Christmas lights for one night on Wednesday, December 19.

Communities across the nation are choosing different ways to show their support, and we asks that our community join in doing the same.

Hardin Memorial Health is pleased to welcome Robert Wilson, M.D., Otolaryngology (ENT), to our community.

Dr. Wilson graduated from West Virginia University School of Medicine and completed his Otolaryngology (ENT) residency at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center. Prior to coming to Elizabethtown, Dr. Wilson was in private practice in North Carolina. Dr. Wilson is a certified member with the American Board of Otolaryngology.

Dr. Green obtained her residency training at the University of Louisville Glasgow/Barren County Family Medicine Residency Program in Glasgow, Kentucky.  Most recently, Dr. Green was in medical practice in South Central Kentucky.

LOCAL RESIDENTS CALLED TO CONTRIBUTE TO HISTORIC CANCER RESEARCH EFFORT

Men and women between the ages of 30 - 65 who have never been diagnosed with cancer are needed to participate in the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3). CPS-3 will enroll a diverse population of up to half a million people across the US. The opportunity for local residents to enroll in CPS-3 is being made possible in partnership with HMH on April 4-5, 2012. All participants will need to enroll in this study prior to April 3, enroll now!

Hardin Memorial Hospital offers Vascular Screenings for Screenings are private, individualized and personal. Our highly trained vascular technologists and physicians perform the vascular exams using ultrasound. Each test takes approximately 10-15 minutes. The complete package of three tests takes less than an hour.

Vascular screenings are ultrasound tests used to look for disease in persons at risk before symptoms are experienced. • Be enrolled in a medical field of study at an accredited college
• Provide a copy of a high school/college transcript with a minimum 3.0 GPA

• Provide a written recommendation from a teacher/instructor
• Provide a brief summary of why you are requesting this scholarship

NEW CHEST MEDICINE BOARD AT HMH

This board is a collaborative, multi-disciplinary resource for the management of sub-acute problems (problems not requiring urgent hospitalization) of the chest.
