It is the expectation of our patients and their families that Hardin Memorial Hospital’s Cancer Care Center provide the latest in technology, access to the most current chemotherapy regiments, and diagnostic testing that can be offered. It is important that our patients who are undergoing very rigorous therapy don’t have to drive an hour, one way, to get these services. We want our patients to know when they come to the Cancer Care Center of Hardin Memorial Hospital that they are also receiving a comprehensive holistic approach to their care.
UK Markey Cancer Center Affiliate Network
Hardin Memorial Hospital's Cancer Care Center has joined the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center Affiliate Network (MCCAN). The affiliation means more cancer patients across Kentucky will be able to receive the advanced specialty and subspecialty care of the UK Markey Cancer Center, recently named the 68th National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in the country, and the only one in Kentucky. Other benefits include access to clinical trials and advanced technology while allowing patients to stay closer to home for most treatment. The nurses in the Cancer Care Center have specialized knowledge and skills in the treatment of cancer and work as part of the cancer team to deliver sophisticated treatment procedures.
At the Cancer Care Center of Hardin Memorial Hospital we can provide all modalities of post surgical cancer treatments from radiation therapy (located at Hardin Memorial Hospital) to chemotherapy, immunotherapy, PET/CT treatment planning, social services, nutritional and pastoral counseling are all available to our patients. Our radiation and medical oncologists work side by side to evaluate our patients. We also hold several cancer screenings throughout the year in order to detect early disease and this is critical to our mission in treating and fighting cancer. Thorough and effective education of our patients, their disease, and their treatment choices, is a critical factor in working collaboratively with the patient.
