CANCER CARE CENTER

  
A multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses and specialists provide expert cancer services to both in- and outpatients at Hardin Memorial Hospital. HMH's cancer specialists have created a caring and personal environment for all of our cancer diagnosis and treatment programs. Cancer treatment at HMH is individualized, innovative, comprehensive and delivered with care and optimism. All treatment team members are specially certified and strive to create a relaxing, home-like atmosphere. Family members are encouraged to accompany patients. Private rooms are available and hot meals are served during treatment. Two local oncologists maintain satellite offices at HMH. Treatment options include: Fractionated Dose Chemotherapy, Radiation Therapy, Brachytherapy and Surgical Oncology. The Cancer Care Center at Hardin Memorial Hospital accepts most insurances. HMH is fully accredited by the Joint Commission.

Commission on Cancer Accreditation means our cancer program meets national standards that have been established to ensure that cancer patients receive the best possible care at the local level. Our institution is participating in a nationwide program that is dedicated to making progress in cancer care and treatment.

The Cancer Registry
The Cancer Registry department creates and maintains a computerized data system to monitor all types of reportable malignancies diagnosed or treated at HMH. The registry provides a broad spectrum of demographic, diagnostic and therapeutic information about cancer patients treated at HMH. Our registry began working with the Kentucky Cancer Registry in 1988. Cancer became a reportable disease by state law in 1991. All hospitals in the state are required to report their data to the Kentucky Cancer Registry.

Cancer Care Conferences
Conferences are held bi-weekly providing multidisciplinary consultative services to cancer patients. Physician representatives and other healthcare professionals from appropriate disciplines provide a team approach in treating cancer patients. Cancer care conferences improve care, while educating the Medical Staff and members of supportive services.
