Auxiliary/Volunteer
Community members support the mission of HMH through two volunteer programs:
Hardin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary
This group of dedicated men and women lend a helping hand to patients, their families, visitors and employees.
Volunteers are used throughout the hospital and each receives a thorough orientation and on-the-job training. In all areas, volunteers work with experienced staff members who guide and supervise them.
The Hospital Auxiliary also engages in a regular schedule of fund raising activities.
HMH Teenage Volunteer Program
Young men and women between the ages of 16 and 20 can explore the health care field though the HMH Teenage Volunteer Program.
Following orientation, each volunteer chooses to be placed in one of 30 areas in the hospital, including nursing, dietary, business planning, medical records and rehab, to name just a few.
Volunteers are always carefully guided and supervised by staff members.
Many former Teenage Volunteers have gone on to careers in health care. Some are employees of the hospital today.
Gift Shop
The Gift Shop is operated by the HMH Auxiliary as a service to the hospital. It is located in the hospital lobby and carries a full supply of toiletries, stationery, postage stamps, flowers and balloons, toys, baby items, snacks, books, magazines, jewelry and gifts.
