CHILDBIRTH CLASSES

  
Preparing for your new arrival is a special time for expectant parents. A variety of classes are ready to assist you during your pregnancy. Health Educators with expertise in labor, delivery and newborn care will guide you through the physical and emotional changes of your pregnancy. The following childbirth preparation courses are recommended during various stages of your pregnancy. A support person and/or significant other are welcome to attend.

Labor Preparation
Learn general relaxation and breathing exercises for labor. This class addresses effective coaching techniques and common expectations of the delivery process. Specific Lamaze or Bradley methods are not covered. This class is recommended during your 7th or 8th month of pregnancy and meets on Monday night from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. or Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. The cost of this class is $15. This class does not include a BirthPlace tour.

BirthPlace Tour
Do you want to see where your precious baby will be born? Schedule your tour of BirthPlace. This tour allows you to view the Labor & Delivery area, Nursery and Postpartum area. This visit will make you and your support person more comfortable about the surroundings for you and your new baby. A Registered Nurse will conduct this informative tour. To schedule your free tour, call (270) 706-1247. Registration is required.

Baby Care
Learn practical tips regarding care of your newborn from bathing to when to call your doctor. A healthcare professional will discuss how to choose pediatrician, basic supplies for the baby's medicine cabinet and common new parent concerns. This class can be taken at anytime during your pregnancy. The class meets every other month on Wednesday night from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. The cost of this class is $5.00.

Super Sibling (children ages 5-8 years)
Prepare older brothers and sisters-to-be for the arrival of the new baby. Children practice diapering, holding and burping the baby. Bring a stuffed animal or doll. The class meets on Wednesday night from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. The cost of this class is $5.00.

Kids Klub BirthPlace Tour (children ages 3-4 years)
If you are expecting another baby and have children under the age of 5,  this brief tour of "where mommy will be staying when she comes to the hospital" will be benefical and informative. Your child will receive a goody bag from the registered nurse who will be conducting the tour and providing preparation tips for you both. To schedule your tour call (270) 706-1247 and leave your name and phone number. There is no charge for this tour.

Breastfeeding
This informative class covers the advantages and the "how-to's" of breastfeeding from preparation to weaning. Dads and/or support persons are encouraged to attend. This class recommended during your 7th month. The class meets on Monday night from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. The cost of this class is $10.00.
