HEALTH SCREENINGS & EVENTS

  
Early detection is the key to discovering most disease processes. In fact, screening is a common tool used to detect personal health risk factors. Health care professionals recommend appropriate follow-up and share prevention tips at the following health screenings. Mark your calendar, watch your local newspaper, and listen to your favorite radio station for the upcoming dates and times.

February & September - Cholesterol Screening
If you are over the age of 18 you should have your blood cholesterol checked every 3 years. This lab work includes - total cholesterol, cholesterol/HDL ratio, LDL, HDL, and triglycerides. Participants are taken by appointment only. There is a fee for this service.

October/November - Flu Shots and Pneumonia Vaccinations
Cold and flu season will be here soon. Yearly flu shots and a pneumonia immunization every 5 years can help decrease your chances of becoming ill. This service is not billable to your insurance, however, Medicare Part B is accepted. There is a fee for this service.

May
Skin cancer is the most prevalent of all cancers. A dermatologist (a physician specializing in skin disorders) will briefly conduct the screening. Participants are taken by appointment only.  There is no fee for this service.

Additional Health Screenings
For additional health screenings in your neighborhood visit the WOW Wellness on Wheels mobile health unit. Monthly screenings vary from blood glucose to osteoporosis. Stop by anytime from 7:30 a.m to 12:30 p.m. to have your blood pressure checked.
