For appropriate candidates, interventional cardiology procedures are available as a less-invasive alternative to traditional open heart surgery. These procedures, such as angioplasty, atherectomies, and stents are conducted by our cardiologists.
The Cardiac Cath Lab provides diagnostic testing and therapeutic interventions to adult patients only using state of the art equipment. The Cardiac Cath Lab operates Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with on-call after-hours and weekend coverage. It is located on the first floor (MAP PDF)

Services include, percutaneous transluminal coronary and peripheral angioplasty, coronary and peripheral stenting, rotational and directional coronary atherectomy, right and left heart catheterization with or without grafts, temporary and permanent cardiac pacemaker insertion, cardiac resynchronization therapy, intra-aortic balloon pump, as well as patient and family support. The Hardin Memorial Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation Program provides progressive exercise and education to patients with cardiac conditions. The program has achieved accreditation status with the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. The unit has access to hospital cardiac and emergency services. With the goal of improving function and prolonging life, the program's services include comprehensive evaluation, prescribed exercise and education. Four levels of rehab services are offered: Phase I -- Inpatient Cardiac Rehab Phase II -- Outpatient Cardiac Rehab(12 week monitored program) Phase III -- Maintenance program(for graduates of Phase II) Phase IV -- Home program and monthly check-ups. Nuclear Cardiology, in the Diagnostic Imaging Center
, provides testing to patients of all ages. Nuclear Cardiology provides diagnostic services 5 days per week, with on-call after-hours and weekend coverage. Testing is regularly available Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with provisions for after-hours testing. The Coronary Care Unit specializes in cardiac care for adult and geriatric patients, as well as care to medical patients, as does the Intensive Care Unit. The unit operates 24 hours a day, 7 days per week and is located on the second floor (MAP PDF)
, adjacent to the ICU. Services include post-cardiac interventional therapy management, management of critical drips, cardiac monitoring, arrhythmia detection and management, thrombolytic therapy, intra-aortic balloon pump and invasive procedures (Swan Ganz catheters, A-line catheters, temporary pacemaker insertion and maintenance, etc.), All RN Staff are ACLS certified, 1:1 and 2:1 Patient/Nurse ratio, open visiting for families, open communications with medical staff, ventilator management, as well as house wide code blue and Rapid Response Teams.
