Hardin Memorial Hospital provides a comprehensive program of surgical services, ranging from simple outpatient procedures to complex operations involving teams of surgeons, anesthesiologists, and medical support staff. More than 14,000 patients each year – more than 45 each day, on average – benefit from the advanced surgical technology provided in the Main Hospital surgical area and in the Outpatient Surgery & Endoscopy Center and the Surgical Center of Elizabethtown.
Main Hospital Surgical Area
The Main Hospital Surgical area is composed of four units, Same Day Surgery, Pre-Admission Testing, Recovery Room and Operating Room. These units work in coordination to provide surgical care for a spectrum of patients; inpatients, admission after surgery and outpatients. The area is designed to offer the latest in advanced technology to a variety of patients and performs some of the hospitals most complex surgeries, such as Major Vascular, Urology, Open Heart, Total Joint Replacement and Craniotomies.
There are eight operating room suites offering the latest technology including image-guided navigation, for Orthopedics, Neurosurgery and Endoscopic Sinus surgery. The area has eight (8) operating rooms, eight (8) recovery bays and twenty (20) private pre-operative rooms.
Outpatient Surgery & Endoscopy Center
The advanced technology within the Outpatient Surgery & Endoscopy Center was designed to adapt to the changing needs of patients and physicians and to ensure that patients have the best experience possible when undergoing treatment.
The 50,000 square foot facility, one of the largest of its kind in the region, has a first floor dedicated to outpatient surgery and a second floor dedicated to endoscopic procedures. In total, there are 54 private pre-and post-operative rooms, allowing patients more privacy and comfort during recovery. The center also features: four (4) surgery suites, four (4) endoscopy suites, GI Lab, convenient parking and on-site registration.
In addition, the new center boasts state-of-the-art technology including a ceiling-mounted Leica microscope for treating ophthalmology cases, pill-sized cameras for diagnosing gastrointestinal problems and video assistance for performing arthroscopic, laparoscopic and endoscopic procedures
Surgical Center of Elizabethtown
Surgical Center of Elizabethtown did their first procedure in November 1983. Since that time we have treated more than 60,000 patients and completed approximately 100,000 surgeries. December 2004 the facility was relocated from it’s original location on Westport Road to it’s current location at 108 Financial Drive directly off of Ring Road. The relocation gave SCE the opportunity to further enhance the services that could be offered to the community in an even more convenient setting. In November 2012 Hardin Memorial Hospital purchased the Center and the Surgical Center of Elizabethtown is an extension of Hardin Memorial Hospital Services.
