Every spring, the sports medicine program will provide pre-participation physicals that are required by the KHSAA.
Each student athlete that attends will be charged fifteen dollars for the physical. The money collected from the physicals will be used to purchase medical supplies for every team at the high school. This will include items such as sterile gauze pads, Band-Aids, hydrogen peroxide, ointment and gloves, to name a few.
Other supplies will also be purchased that are needed for the coaches and student athletes. This can
include, but not limited to, lightning detectors, heat and humidity monitors, padding, and crutches. Other items can be purchased if the high school has needs for other medical supplies.
Each pre-participation physical form will be looked at closely by the Certified Athletic Trainer and he will note any student athlete who may have specific medical need, such as asthma. This information will then be copied onto colored paper and coaches will be notified of the condition.
Copies of the physical forms will be kept for one year in the event the original form is lost.
