On Tuesday, December 4, the HMH Auxiliary hosted the Let Christmas Shine Ceremony to officially light up Hardin Memorial Hospital. The ceremony included refreshments, music by the Heartland Dulcimer Club and a time of reflection in memory and honor of those recognized with a light purchase.
Let Christmas Shine is HMH Auxiliary’s Christmas project to raise monies for the Auxiliary Scholarship Fund. Auxiliary volunteers sell lights and strands to honor and remember loved ones.
HMH Auxiliary scholarships are funded by Let Christmas Shine in addition to other fundraisers such as the $5 Jewelry Sale and Books are Fun sales. Last year, the Auxiliary raised enough money to award 21 $1,000 scholarships!
Let Christmas Shine has been an annual event contributing to the scholarship fund making it possible to give thousands of dollars in scholarships over the years. For over 25 years, the HMH Auxiliary Scholarship Fund has given scholarships to college students who are current residents or high school graduates of HMH’s 10 county service area (Hardin, LaRue, Meade, Breckenridge, Grayson, Nelson, Hart, Bullitt, Green and Taylor) that are going into the medical field.
