The Hardin Memorial Hospital cafeteria is now a more inviting space thanks to the HMH Auxiliary. The Auxiliary, a group of dedicated volunteers, helped fund a $25,000 renovation that included new flooring and a new and improved seating area.
Greg Gilliam, retail manager for HMH, said the new furniture already has made an impression.
“The new tables and chairs are attractive and comfortable and really give our café area a face lift, or rather a floor lift,” he said. “We’re grateful to the Auxiliary for their contribution.”
HMH Auxiliary President Hans Marsen said the Auxiliary members enjoy giving back to the healthcare system.
“We are always proud to help fund projects that make a positive difference for patients, their families and the hard-working HMH staff,” Marsen said. “The hospital and healthcare system is so important to our region, and we want to do all we can to make it even stronger.”
The HMH Auxiliary raises money through donations and events including the Simply Silver Jewelry Sale, the $5 Jewelry Sale, Books are Fun and Let Christmas Shine. Members raised almost $50,000 last year.
Additionally, they volunteered about 36,000 hours at the hospital last year annually. Volunteers start at four hours per week. To learn more, call Kevin Hilton at 270-706-1713.
