At a special called meeting of the Hardin Memorial Health (HMH) Board of Trustees, the board approved a temporary resolution allowing HMH physicians to conduct alternative patient consultations. The resolution was approved in response to the current COVID-19 crisis in order to keep patients and the community safe.
For patients admitted to HMH, providers with inpatient privileges will be able to consult with one another and conduct patient evaluations via telehealth (telephone or televideo), conduct medical record reviews, and formulate treatment plans for inpatients.
“During this unprecedented time, we are committed to providing our physicians and advanced practice clinicians with what they need to care for patients and our community,” said Hardin County Judge Executive Harry Berry. “We will do everything we can to support the HMH staff and physicians on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
The HMH Medical Executive Committee must approve the resolution for it to go into effect.
At the meeting, the HMH Board of Trustees praised the work of all the HMH employees amidst the crisis.
“The HMH team has long been the ‘best of the best’. Today, when the stakes are high and the risks so great, we are beyond thankful to them for putting patient care above all else” said Garry King, HMH Board of Trustees member. “We encourage anyone who is financially able to consider making a donation to the HMH Foundation to thank the staff and support the COVID-19 Emergency Fund.”
